Tea from Honza and Lucia

Tea from Honza and Lucia

This is where it all began. Cesta čaje was our first unofficial co-working space, so it's really close to our hearts. When Honza took over this little shop and tea house just before Covid, it was with Richard, so that counts twice. They started importing most of the teas you'll find here together. Later, Richard moved on to other projects, and he was replaced by Lucia who, let's face it, is much more representative. Amazing "leaves" and the greatest tea experience in Brno. Simply love.

Ceylon OP - the very first tea we imported together. When we tasted it for the first time, we discovered that even ordinary black tea can be an absolutely wonderful experience - strong, full and pleasantly sweet. In short, a perfect breakfast. A clear choice in the price-performance ratio. How to handle it? Add boiling water to 7 grams of tea and infuse for 5 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 100° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.Thyolo Aged Peony is the first of two pieces from the stunning Satemwa Gardens in Malawi. In this garden, which is in one of the poorest countries in the world, they decided to make tea differently than in most of Africa. No teabags, just nice hand-crafted leaves, fair wages and part of the profit to return to the development of infrastructure. A great project with great people behind it and we were lucky enough to import their tea. This variation on the Chinese white peony has been left to ripen for a long time, which gives it a pleasant sweet and sour herbal taste. For us, it is definitely worth comparison to Chinese white teas. How to handle it? Add 90° water to 7 grams of tea and infuse for 3 to 4 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 90° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.Another piece from Malawi, Thyolo Guava Smoke is a black tea smoked over guava wood. Something between tea and smoked bacon, shall I say more? How to handle it? Add boiling water to 7 grams of tea and infuse for 5 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 100° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.Green Jade from En Shi, this is not a PR bullshit, but a translation of this tea known as En Shi Cui Lu. Very atypical Chinese green tea, which is processed in a way that is more typical for Japan - fresh leaves are preserved with hot steam. En Shi is the last place in China where they use this ancient method. The result is a creamy, fresh green tea. How to handle it? Add 75° water to 7 grams of tea and infuse for 3 to 4 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 75° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.Japanese teas have been quite a hype in recent years. They are distinctive, refreshing, just cool. From Tea Journey, we've selected two pieces, the first of which is Sencha Kirishima Tokujou. Sencha is probably the biggest classic among Japanese green teas. This piece from the Kirishima region has a sweet fruity taste and a slightly creamy texture with a nice umami. What the heck is umami, you ask? It's the fifth taste, found for example in sushi, typical for seaweed, but also in dried tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, or beef broth. Try it and you'll see. How to handle it? Add 65° water to 5 grams of tea and infuse for 4 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 60° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.Uji Gyokuro Goko will show you what Japanese tea is all about. Umami, umami, and more umami, so if you don't know this taste and want to experience it fully, gyokuro is the way to go. The pinnacle of Japanese tea production, at least when it comes to classic tea, because matcha is in a category of its own. How to handle it? Add 65° water to 5 grams of tea and infuse for 4 minutes. Traditional preparation 7 grams - 60° - 30 s / 10 s / 30 s / keep adding 10-30 s every infusion There are 50 g of tea in the package.
